Enjoy your Saturday with visiting artist, Chanti Tacoronte-Perez, and learn about Yantra Mandala Painting.  The word yantra in sanskrit means tool, machine or instrument. Yantras are usually geometric diagrams, made of a small dot (bindu) surrounded by circles, triangles, and squares, each having symbolic meaning. These shapes come together to form the pattern of the divine. A yantra is also a visual form of a mantra used to strengthen your focus in meditation. The first chakra (the Muladhara Chakra) helps to support our foundation, our connection with the earth element and our ability to find stability in the midst of turbulence. Creating the muladhara mandala unites us with that energy to support our own growth from a solid foundation. Our practice of Sacred Art painting will start with a short meditation to set our practice intention for the time we have. Then we will engage in our creative process of chakra drawing & painting where students will learn the symbolic meaning of the first chakra lotus and its corresponding colors. Student will use Vedic math to create their own unique mandala pattern around the first chakra.
