Join classically trained artist Sandy Freckleton Gagon in this two-day workshop that will sequentially present concepts of visual perception and their application to drawing the human figure from direct observation. It will take you through the steps of drawing the figure with this traditional medium used by great masters throughout art history. Artists will learn a historical approach to drawing the portrait using different colored chalks. This method was popularized by Rubens in the seventeenth century and ultimately adopted by French academicians under the term “Trios-couleurs.” The use of three colored chalks (black, red, and white) allows the artist to highlight the subtle hue shifts of living flesh. We will explore likeness, anatomy, and form.
