The “Four Gentlemen”: Sumi-e East Asian Brush Painting

Introducing the "Four Gentlemen", which means the first four lessons each sumi-e student will learn from their teacher. These lessons focus on the basics; learning how to hold the brush, load your brush, basic brushstrokes, and practicing simple Asian compositions. These lessons are essential to learning East Asian brush painting and each one is associated with a season, incorporating Asian philosophy and virtues. The class is full of demonstrations, practice time and a gentle hands-on teaching style.
