Whether you have taken sculptural welding before or this is your first time, you are sure to have fun and love metal sculpture by the end of this class. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of metalworking and metal sculpture design.  We will be using MIG welders, Oxygen/Acetylene torches, Plasma Cutters, Grinders, Shapers, Cut-off tools, and anything we can find laying around to bend, shape or mold our ideas into art.  We encourage students to think about projects they may want to build and to keep an eye open for found metal pieces to use in their sculptures before class begins.  This is a fun course for beginners and intermediate metalworkers.  The first night of class will review safety and how to use equipment.  The other 4 classes, students will work with the instructor based on their knowledge of welding (returning students can dive into other projects, while beginning students will work on simple projects to start.) If you have ever seen sparks flying and wondered what those folks were doing, this class will answer your questions and give you the metalworking itch, guaranteed! *Any additional metal that students wish to purchase for special projects can be purchased separately by the student.

*Please note that the membership discount price is based on an honor system.  We will be referencing your account to confirm your active membership with the Kimball Art Center.  If you are not a member and would like to receive discounts on classes as well as other benefits, please visit our membership webpage:
