In this class, students will be creating unique Photograms using the “Cyanotype” photographic process first created in 1842 as a means of creating blueprints. We will create Photograms on paper and fabric using objects found in nature, around the classroom or from home, and even our own bodies! Students will learn to coat paper and fabric with the Cyanotype solution and create silhouette images by placing objects on the canvas and exposing them in natural sunlight. Students will have the opportunity to be creative with the selection and placement of objects to create unique, one of a kind Photograms. On the third day of the workshop, students will use their own bodies to create a mural size Photogram. Students may want to work with a partner or use additional objects to create their life size self portrait. The sky's the limit, so start imagining!
