Encaustic Review: Introduction to Beeswax & Paper

This workshop is for the artist who wants to continue a conversation with encaustic...and begin an exploration of combining papers with beeswax in countless ways! Students will be introduced to the endless possibilities of combining beeswax with paper by utilizing collage techniques, creating translucent layers, working with mixed media materials for mark-making along with stenciling and image transfers. The workshop will begin with a discussion of encaustic history, safety procedures, materials and equipment followed by a brief review of encaustic medium and paint applications, appropriate supports, grounds, brushes, and tools. Each demonstration and discussion will be followed by ample time for practice and creative exploration throughout the 2-day workshop.
