Encaustic Painting Workshop

$315 + $50 materials fee
The class will begin with a brief discussion of encaustic history and proper safety procedures. There will be discussions of basic concepts of encaustic medium and paint, appropriate supports and grounds, sizing, brushes and tools. Various techniques of paint application, scraping and fusing will be introduced, as well as how to create different effects through color, drawing, masking, incising and different textures. Several mixed media materials and methods will also be presented for the students to explore including stenciling, image transfer, collage and pastels.
