This class is for adults interested in ceramic techniques. All skill levels are welcome from beginner to advanced, as well as hand builders and wheel throwers. Class will focus on making clay work and preparing the surfaces with burnishing and terra sigillata slips to explore primitive and experimental firing methods. We will learn how to prepare clay work, combustibles and minerals and how to use them for best effects. *Pit-fire, and Raku firings will be done off of Kimball Art Center grounds and returned to you.* In-studio firings will include the use of combustible containers (saggars) in our gas kiln. We will learn to set up circumstances for beautiful, haunting, and exciting accidents of fire markings on clay work.
